300 Bike Rides
I apologize in advance for the double Peloton posts this week (spoiler alert for Saturday), but we’re writing about what’s happening and this is what’s happening.
On Monday I had my 300th bike ride on Peloton.
I think I mentioned earlier this year that I would be hitting that milestone pretty soon.
And I don’t know if it merits its own post, but we are documenting the year and achievements (I acknowledge I’m using that term loosely here) in the year, so why not.
I’ve been trying to bike at least once a week throughout this 100 Days of Peloton Streak, and that brought me to 300 a little quicker than I otherwise would have expected.
(Also, without running at all in December I spent a lot of time on the bike so that helped.)
I was able to time the milestone ride out with a live ride on Monday morning, so after a couple of short warm-up rides my 300th was a 20-minute ride with Jess King.
First off, I did not get a shout-out. I didn’t check beforehand if it was an in-studio ride. It was, and there were in-studio shout-outs, and a 20-minute ride is really too short a time to get to a bunch of shout-outs.
But that’s OK. There are people working harder on their 300 cycling efforts than me - this is over 5 years or so, remember. As I’ve said before, after that first year, where I hit 100 rides pretty quickly, I’ve been more of a runner with Peloton than anything else.
Still, I’m glad I did the 300 in a live class. I got some high-fives (more than usual, so at least I was with other users at the same time and I thank them for recognizing the achievement), and as I am always reminded, the live classes are fun.
I don’t often take Jess King classes for some reason (maybe because she’s pretty much only on the bike), so it was nice to switch things up that way too.
Peloton has changed the way its badges look - at the top there you can see what the 300 badge now looks like. Each discipline has its own little design now - cycling has that circular motion which is like the pedals, I guess. (I can only imagine how much money one person made with the suggestion and design of new badges.)
If you want to compare, this is what a badge looked like earlier in the year.
And this was pretty neat - for most of my 300th ride I hovered around the 300 spot on the leaderboard. I liked that.
I never know what hashtag to use.
