2025 Week 7 To-Do

It’s been a roof raking winter so far.

As you read this I’m probably shoveling or have already shoveled snow.

I don’t mind shoveling the snow, really. (I mean, it gets old after the 4th or 5th time in a season, but it’s not like I hate it.)

Like raking the leaves or mowing the lawn, it’s just one of those things that has to get done and I manage in my own way.

Years ago we had a neighbor who sometimes came by with the snowblower. This was helpful a couple of times when we were out of town during a snow storm, but I always told him to help out others with the snowblower - I didn’t mind the shoveling.

What I would joke with Kathy afterwards was “If you’d really like to help me out, brush off the cars.”

That’s the stuff that gets me - brushing off the car, and raking the roof.

After I shovel the driveway, it’s like another snow storm when I get all the snow off the cars or off the roof (learned the hard way in that winter of 2015 that we can’t afford any more ice dams) - and another round of shoveling begins.

The thing about it is - as I get older, I get much colder much quicker. So my poor hands can really only handle one round of shoveling - front of the house, rest, back of the house - before they get so so cold again.

Anyway, there’s more storms on the way this week, allegedly, so shoveling is implied on the to-do list. Here’s what else is happening:

This Week’s To Do

  • It’s vacation week here in Massachusetts. (I know this isn’t something that happens everywhere - or even at the same time. Don’t get me started on February vacation - I could talk about it for hours. We called it ‘energy conservation week’ when I was a kid. Nowadays I think it’s just meant to give the ski industry a boost.) Anyway, maybe we’ll Make A Family Visit if the weather allows.

  • The Lottery for the New York City Marathon opened up last week and website traffic was insane all week, so I gave it a little while to calm down. Still, it’s a short window to enter, so I will need to get in on it this week. It would be crazy if I got in since I’ll be running Chicago in October, but YOLO, you know?

  • We did not already see the movie in its first three days - so we are definitely Seeing Captain America this week. I’ll be writing about it. I enjoyed my re-watch of ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.’

This Week’s May-Do

  • My Tuesday plans have opened up since I did not get called to do Jury Duty! I’m still going to write a little something about it, so stay tuned for that.

  • That ‘Saturday Night Live’ 50 years special is on tonight. I’m going to try to watch it. Like the music documentary, though, it might not be in one 3-hour sitting. Although…there is no school tomorrow.

  • There’s a project I want to do here, Rearranging the home gym stuff we have and using the space better.

  • Also, I want to Buy A Recliner. Maybe this is the week to do both.

Let’s take a look back at last week’s list. You can click here for more details.

Last Week’s To-Do

  • Yeah, very much enjoyed the Spring Training sights and sounds.

  • Valentine’s Day was fine.

  • I already told you about the jury duty call.

Last Week’s May-Do

  • Again. Did not see Captain America. Will do this week.
