Thanksgiving 2016

(Sunday Paper, Volume I, Issue 27)

I love Thanksgiving.

I look forward to it every year.

I love it for all of the cliched reasons - the food, the football, the family.

I like the four-day weekend to get a jump on things around the house, especially putting up the Christmas lights.

For me Thanksgiving kind of has a certain rhythm to it - it follows a certain script.

Except this year it didn't go according to plan at all.

I was sick on Thanksgiving this year. Really really sick.

So sick that I had to cancel on two of my three shows this weekend. (Hopefully by the time you read this sometime on Sunday I'm healthy and recovering...but as of this writing I'm not feeling much better and I would list Sunday night's show as 'questionable'. Ever been so sick you forget what being well feels like? That's where I'm at right now.)

I've been sick on holidays before...I've actually been sick quite a bit on Thanksgiving before. But I've never been sick on two holidays in the same calendar year...so if nothing else I guess this bodes well for Christmas and New Year's this year, which have seen their share of me being sick in recent years.

Oh, and more good news? Even though I feel horrible about missing shows (I never expected that would ever happen in my comedy career)...especially one so close to home in Framingham...I heard from someone in the know that the Framingham room was great for comedy and there will be more shows...and I will likely be rescheduled on one of those shows in the coming months.

Hopefully I'll feel better by then.
