2025 Week 4 To-Do

Last night was the 25-year anniversary of our first date. We went out for dinner to celebrate.

I wish I had thought to take a picture to include with this post as I shoveled the snow on Monday. (For context on the picture I did include, make sure to read the caption.)

But it was cold and I was on a mission and pictures were not front-of-mind for me as I cleared the 6 inches or so of snow that fell in Framingham.

It had been a while since we’d had an overnight snow like that. I came to that realization when I came in from the first round of shoveling and I was dry. Often when it has snowed recently I’m out there clearing a car or the driveway while it’s still snowing and my coat and gloves are sopping by the time I’m done and I need to dry them out so I don’t put a sopping wet coat and gloves back on for the next round.

This time everything stayed dry - it was just so cold I couldn’t stay out there shoveling for too long.

OK. On with the week ahead - hard to believe this to-do list brings us to the end of January!

This Week’s To-Do

  • The other thing about this week (besides being the last week of January) is it’s the first week where I don’t have the goals of the year to write about more in-depth anymore. So I need to make sure I’m Staying On Top Of My Posts here. Right now I’m about a week ahead of myself - trying not to let posts get too stale but also not letting every day come down to the last minute where this becomes a burden and I end up letting it fizzle out. A month in and I’ve been able to keep my head above water. That’s a good sign. I’ve also got a few new ideas to throw into the mix.

  • I’m responsible for Watching My Nephew for a couple of hours Wednesday afternoon. That’ll disrupt work…but it’ll be fun. Maybe I’ll see if I can teach him about baseball or Spider-Man or something.

  • I’m also going to have to watch this SNL special Monday night, about the 50 years of music on ‘Saturday Night Live’. I think this open is amazing. You should take 7 minutes and watch it. (When I’d first saw the commercial for this I assumed it was on Sunday night and I wouldn’t watch it because of the football. But Monday night I don't have a reason not to watch it. Except I don't know if I can stay up until 11pm.)

This Week’s May-Do

  • I’d like to see ‘A Complete Unknown.’ I haven’t been able to carve out the time for a mid-day movie, which is good - it means I’m using my workday time wisely. But, I don’t know, maybe this week? That movie might not be in theaters too much longer. (Although maybe it’ll get a little bump from Chalamet hosting/singing on SNL last night…and the Oscar nominations.) It does not seem to be playing at any times that are convenient for me. Maybe I’ll finagle the schedule a little bit to accommodate it. As I said above…I don’t want to run out of things to write about.

Let’s take a quick look back at how I did last week: (Remember, as long as I remember to do it, you can click here to get more in-depth information on last week’s list.)

Last Week’s To-Do

  • I already told you earlier this week I successfully registered for the BAA Distance Medley.

  • The short week went well, and it’s always nice having the girls home at odd times of the day.

  • Dropped the car off on Wednesday for the brakes, they called and told me I should probably do the tires (I kind of knew this was coming). The price beat what the dealership had quoted me…but I was supposed to get the car back on Wednesday and that didn’t actually happen until Thursday evening. So Thursday was not too productive as I sat and half expected the phone call when I would have to go and get my car…and that never came. Glad to be done with it, though, and hopefully no major automotive work for a while.

Last Week’s May-Do

  • I did indeed proceed with putting together a little menu for February. We’ll see if that works and I continue with other months or if it’s a one-off. You’d better believe I’ll be writing about it come February.

  • Did I limit my news and social media intake? A little. Probably not enough.
