My New Recliner

I have wanted a recliner for a few years now.

One reason is that I found my legs were not recovering as well as they should after long runs because our couch isn’t what it used to be.

So sitting on the couch was kind of saggy and more strain on my legs. (I have since been sitting on the couch with my feet up which has helped. A new couch is coming at some point but it’s not urgent.)

I figured, though, I should treat myself to something where I can sit and watch the Mets and put my feet up and nap if I so desire. (I have not napped well these past few years and I can’t quite put my finger on why but I am going to guarantee you this is going to help.)

So a couple of weeks ago I bought myself a recliner, and it came last Friday.

Kathy and I went couch shopping and there really wasn’t something we wanted to dive into just yet. And I didn’t really see a recliner I liked, but it was hard to focus on ‘get a good couch’ and ‘get a good recliner’ at the same time.

So we came home with nothing, but two days later I went back to the store and, singularly focused, found a recliner.

Basically it came down to “Do I want a super-fancy motorized chair with a USB port?” or “Do I just want a simple recliner?”

I just wanted a simple recliner.

When we first went out shopping I told Kathy that there’s a good chance this chair we buy is the one I will sit in for the rest of my life.

But after I bought the simpler version I backed off that claim.

It’s a great recliner for now. It might not last decades.

And it also did not cost a fortune. So in a few years I can decide again whether or not I want to upgrade to ‘fancy’ chair.

For now, I’m really happy.

Every time I sit down I don't have to lower myself down as far as I do with other furniture in the house. So it’s going to be good for my legs and it’s comfortable for the rest of me as well.

I have yet to nap in it but I plan on many a nap in that chair.

It’s going to be a great spring and summer (and next few years) of run recovery and baseball watching.

And hopefully weekend afternoon napping.
