The End of Phase One of Painting
Last weekend I did the final burst of painting that will allow me to move all of the exercise equipment back into place and advance to painting the other parts of the downstairs area.
Here are some pictures of my progress and I’ll tell you a little bit about each one.
When I last left you with a picture of downstairs, you saw how cluttered this corner was, because that’s where I moved everything to be able to paint the other wall and corner.
As you can see above, I cleared everything out of there now, and decided to do everything white first before I got to the gray on that right side.
I also learned my lesson and opened the window to circulate some air. Much better than being stuck in that corner with the paint fumes. This turned out well because I didn’t care about those curtains - Kathy says she’s going to replace them - and although the floor is a bit of a mess and I’ll have to scrape up a lot of paint some day, there were not a lot of edges to worry about. Everything is white.
I needed to be a little more careful with the gray, but overall this was a smaller spot to paint gray. The white was a lot - I am almost out of white paint already, but the gray took about 20 minutes for each coat. Not bad at all.
And then I just went back with the white and touched up the spots some gray went where it shouldn’t have.
I had hoped before I went away to get all of the exercise equipment back in its new spots, but that was a little too much. I also need some new outlet plates.
So there are some finishing touches before I move on to the other walls down there, but the big thing is the painting in that part of downstairs is done.
I am not sure which part will be Phase Two, or when I will get that going. I guess part of that depends on how seamless setting up the exercise equipment is and then seeing what kind of space we’re dealing with.
You can expect to see pictures of Phase Two soon.
